Announcing Hand of Secrets

“If you wish for your father’s Empire to last forever, then it is far better to be feared than loved. For the sake of order, it is better to be a villain.” – Bayushi’s Lies

The final Great Clan supplement for the Legend of the Five Rings Roleplaying Game is coming November 20! Edge Studio will release Hand of Secrets, a 176-page hardcover book that serves as the essential guide to cities, law, and subterfuge in Rokugan. The book provides all-new options for players, resources for game masters, details about the setting, and a complete adventure set in the City of Lies.

Hand of Secrets contains a wealth of information on the Scorpion Clan, the workings of the Emerald Empire’s great cities, running campaigns of subterfuge and investigation, and much more:

• Rich Lore: Discover the secrets of Rokugan’s cities, including what makes them unique and what life is like within. The book details the notorious Journey’s End City—the “City of Lies”—as well as other iconic urban centers such as Toshi Ranbo, Gisei Toshi, and others. It also dives deep into the “Clan of Secrets,” exploring the complex families who sacrifice themselves to ensure the Empire’s survival.

• New Schools and Character Options: Rules for the Wasp Minor Clan, as well as new schools like the Shosuro Actor and the Wasp Clan Bounty Hunter. The book offers new equipment, techniques, and titles for those upholding the law… and those who wish to circumvent it. Players may also dare to embrace the power of the mysterious shadow brands, or join the hidden ranks of the Jade Magistrates.

• GM Resources: Game Masters will find plenty of support including tools and guidance for running investigations and mysteries, plus information on secret orders, poisons, and the magistrates of Rokugan. The Emerald Empire’s deepest conspiracies are laid bare, including the sinister Kolat and the carefully guarded Path of Man.

• Scorpion-Focused Adventure: Included in this book is “Jumping at Shadows,” a supernatural mystery adventure that plunges three to five player characters between ranks 1–2 into a dangerous web of intrigue, rivalry, and betrayal in the City of Lies. “Jumping At Shadows” is a greatly expanded version of the adventure that debuted at Gen Con 2025, featuring more locations, NPCs, obstacles, and a deeper mystery.

Hand of Secrets is an essential addition for veteran players and collectors looking to complete their journey through the Emerald Empire. Stay tuned to LegendoftheFiveRings.com for more previews ahead of the supplement’s release on November 20!
